One Little Step

During my mental struggles there were times I never thought I would feel normal, but that was a lie I kept repeating to myself. It did get better. Recovery did happen. I still have bad moments, but one thing I’ve learned is that it will pass and that bad moment is not permanent.

Take some time and discover the things that could help you find your calm. Then that moment when you feel your stress go up you can take a break and do something to calm yourself.

Here’s a few things to can help you get started on creating your own Find Your Calm List.

  • Pray
  • Take a walk
  • Call a friend
  • Draw something
  • Write something
  • Listen or play music
  • Exercise
  • Sit outside and take in the moment
  • Meditate
  • Take a power nap
  • Drink some water
  • Go for a drive
  • Pray

This is a short list of a few things I do to help myself feel better during those stress moments. As you noticed I included Pray at the beginning and the end. Anything I do to find my calm, I start and end with prayer because that is the only way I can find true peace. I can’t emphasize enough how powerful the role of prayer is in the pursuit for peace.

Take care of your mental health. Ask for help. Take a break. Breathe. Pray. This moment will pass and things will get better.
