In 2020 my youngest graduated high school. This brought an end to a phase in my life and suddenly I felt somewhat lost. I’d been a SAHM since 1998 and homeschooling since 2002 and now I wasn’t sure what to do.
After some time in prayer and considering all my options, I decided to pursue coaching. I spent the summer of 2020 earning my coaching certification.
In the fall of 2020, I got this wild idea to write a story after I finished watching the Twilight movies again. So I grabbed a notepad and jotted down my ideas, then I began writing scenes. The story began to take a life of its own and before long it had me consumed.
I spent the next several weeks working on this elaborate backstory with writing and researching.
After a year of writing I finally had the story written. This is when a whole other journey began – the editing.
And another education began too.
Over the 8 months, I learned about editing process and the different types of edits. As I’m in the final phase of editing, again comes more education – publishing.
So as I inch closer toward the finish line of a completed book, I am learning about the aspects of publishing.
The writing journey has been exciting, scary, nerve-racking, and beautiful all at the same time. As I move into my book becoming a reality, the nerves hit me. My story, my thoughts, my imaginary characters and town, my creation is about to be on display for all to see, read, and judge. It is a scary place, but it is full of hope and excitement too.
As I muster up the courage to lose sight of the shore, I look forward to my journey across the ocean.
Thanks for reading.
