Meditation Mondays – Virtuous & Praiseworthy

With all that’s going on, thinking about good things is not so easy right now. The other day my friend, Laura shared with me her practice of focusing on praiseworthy things. As I listened to her, I couldn’t really think of an example of how I focus on the praiseworthy things. Honestly, aside from including thanks to God in my prayers, I’m not sure how much I focus on the praiseworthy things in my life.

This conversation with Laura made me think about a time my daughter, Cecily shared with me that she was struggling with having a bad attitude. After reading in Philippians she can to the conclusion that she was focusing on negative things and it was effecting her outlook. She decided to start thinking on things mentioned in Philippians 4 verse 8 to help improve her attitude.

Throughout the past few weeks, I’ve noticed my attitude hasn’t been the best. I’ve noticed I’m not as patient, I’m worrying more, and stressing about little things. Thinking about the two different conversations with Laura and Cecily, I realized that the problem with my attitude may be the fact that I’m not being mindful to meditate on virtuous and praiseworthy things. After realizing this I’ve decided that I want to improve my attitude. I want to take this week and spend a few minutes each day to reflect on the 6 things mentioned in Philippians 4:8true, noble, just, pure, lovely, good report.

If you would like to join me, I’ve included Virtuous and Praiseworthy sheets to print and use each day to focus on the things in Philippians 4:8.

“Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.” Philippians 4:8-9

As always thanks for reading. Blessings.

Until next time
