Get in your Bible through Scripture Writing

Have you heard about scripture writing? Several months ago, I was on Pinterest searching about bible journaling and came across scripture writing. Immediately, I liked what I read about it.

Why do scripture writing? Scripture writing is a great method to be in God’s Word daily. Scripture writing can help you build a habit of regular bible study as well as help you with scripture memorization.

What exactly is scripture writing? This was a question I asked myself when I learned about it. But it’s actually as simple as it sounds, it is writing the scriptures. A good practice to make scripture writing into a daily habit is to choose a topic and develop a schedule for your daily writing. The schedule would include bible verses to be written on a specific day that correlate to the topic. Typically a scripture writing schedule provides daily verses for a 30 day period.

What do I need for scripture writing? After reading more about the concept of scripture writing, I appreciate the ease and simplicity of it. A paper and pen is all you need to begin or you can get way more elaborate with a journal, markers, colored pens/pencils, highlighters, stickers and/or scrapbooking accessories. Really it’s what you want to make it. For my first attempt at scripture writing, I used a cute journal, pens, highlighters and my Fruit of the Spirit Scripture Writing Plan. The Fruit of the Spirit Scripture Writing Plan consists of a nine week plan – one part of the fruit of the spirit for a week at a time.
