30 Days of Thanks – Day 23

Yesterday my son, Colton and I were getting ready to leave the house and he had a tune in his head. He sang it to me and asked “Is that a song?” I responded “I don’t know it, but it sounds good.” Our conversation continued about the lyrics and with a couple of changed words, he had the start of a devotional song. He grabbed his phone and recorded the melody and words. Later that day, we are at my daughters and the three of us work more on the song adding harmonies to it.

This is one of the many things I love about music. Over the years, I’ve enjoyed singing with my kids, creating songs with them, and a few times even performing with them.

Music is a big blessing in my life. It is one of the things that has bonded my children and me. It’s been an enjoyable form of entertainment to me. It’s been an expressive outlet for me through songwriting and singing. And music is one of my favorite ways to worship the Lord.

I’m extremely thankful for music and all the blessings I have received from it. So, today I give thanks for music and all that it adds to my life.

“He has put a new song in my mouth– Praise to our God; Many will see it and fear, And will trust in the Lord.” Psalm 40:3

“Praise the Lord, for the Lord is good; Sing praises to His name, for it is pleasant.” Psalms 135:3

Until next time

  1. That is so funny that you wrote about this. Huston is taking a Life Span class and the paper he is supposed to write has this prompt: Imagine you are 100 years old -tell people what you contribute your “good” long life to. I’m not sure what the good in parenthesis means but as we looked at what happens in each stage of life one section was on creativity. You musically blessed folks definitely can contribute longevity, health, and peace to music. I know God has blessed you with such a beautiful voice as well as creativity and as the Creator of all things He loves us to have music and to create. We are so blessed to have that outlet and I’m glad you made me think of that blessing again today. Also as a side thought several young people are attributing their good life to God. I’m so proud to see young people boldly praising the Lord especially since it is posted in discussion forum and open to all students.

    1. As always Laura you make me smile. Thanks for your thoughts and encouraging words. ❤️😊
