30 Days of Thanks – Day 22

I recently started selling Norwex and my daughter hosted a party for me that we did via Facebook. So last night, my friend and recruiter, Gwen, came over to join me and help with the party. I’d never done a Facebook live video, so Cecily came over several hours before the party to run through set-up of the camera and make sure I was familiar with it. I had my laptop and my phone ready to go for recording the videos.

When Gwen and I did the the live video demonstration of the first product, I decided to use my phone. Thinking I was still in my private Facebook group, I hit the “go live” button and we did the 5 minute demo. I noticed that Cecily was trying to find the live feed but couldn’t. Then as the live video ends, Cecily informs me that I’d gone live but it wasn’t on the private group of 12 people, but instead to my 512 friends on my personal Facebook feed. I was shocked and couldn’t believe what I had done, especially after I had practiced to ensure I would not do that.

Well it doesn’t end there. After I make that flub I then proceed to make another live video this time ensuring that the live feed is set to the private group. I beginning videoing and then Cecily informs me that I am sideways on her screen. 😂 By this time, all I can do is laugh. The very thing I didn’t want to happen did and while I’m apologizing to my group, I then video myself sideways.

So after all this, I think well it can’t get any worse, may as well laugh about it. So I just laughed about it. Later that night, after it all was done, Joe said to me “you must’ve had a good time I heard you all laughing from the other room.” And I did have a good time after I relaxed and started to laugh.

Laughter really is good medicine. I was nervous about the party, but that went away pretty quick when I got to laughing at my mistake. Now last night’s mishap has become a really funny story that makes me laugh. As I wrote this post, I kept getting tickled thinking about the whole event. When I checked out Facebook and saw my story (which still has the video showing) it made me giggle. Laughter is definitely good for my soul and certainly brightens a mood.

So today, I give thanks for laughter. It definitely helps me get through life. I’m very happy that God blesses us with humor and fun. It certainly makes life more interesting.

“A merry heart does good, like medicine, But a broken spirit dries the bones.” Proverbs 17:22

“Then our mouth was filled with laughter, And our tongue with singing. Then they said among the nations, “The Lord has done great things for them.” Psalms 126:2

“A time to weep, And a time to laugh; A time to mourn, And a time to dance;” Ecclesiastes 3:4

Until next time
