30 Days of Thanks – Day 21

I have many people in my life that are there for me, love me, and support me. Many of those people I am fortunate to call family. I’m very grateful for the blessing of not just a large family but a close family. In my life, I know that I have people that will be there for me because we have the commonality of being born to the same family. I know that our closeness doesn’t happen because of the coincidence of birth, but exists because of the values learned from grandparents, parents, aunts and uncles.

My family has a closeness and love for each other because of the example of love that we witnessed between our grandparents. That example became the model their children followed, then showed to their children and grandchildren. This love and appreciation of family continues to grow and multiply to each new generation.

It is a true blessing to know that you have people that are there for you and feel a connection to you because of a common love shared. While there is no way I could ever express all the thanks I have for each member of my family, I do want to express a personal thanks for two people – my father and my mom’s sister. November 21st is the day that both my daddy and my Aunt Janie celebrate their birth and I’m extremely thankful that God saw fit to bring them both into this world, make them a part of my family, and bless my life as a result.

So today I give thanks for all my family and specifically for my daddy and Janie. Very thankful that God blessed me with all my family and the values I’ve been privileged to learn from the generations before me.

“Children’s children are the crown of old men, And the glory of children is their father.” Proverbs 17:6

“May the Lord watch between you and me when we are absent one from another.” Genesis 31:49

Until next time
