My days have been pretty busy lately. My son, Colton plays basketball and the season started, so several evenings a week I’m sitting in gym watching a game. Since this is Colton’s senior year, I’m enjoying and appreciating all the moments of his last year of high school.
Over the next few months, Colton will have many exciting senior year celebrations and I will have camera in hand, ready to snap a picture. I look forward to all of this and will try to absorb as much as I can. Even though these moments mean the world to me, I must say that I’m also trying to absorb all the day to day interactions I’m getting with Colton. I know his time in my home is coming to an end and soon he will be all too soon starting his own life.
Yesterday, I enjoyed one those little moments. He joined me in the living room and asked if I would like to watch his favorite YouTube show with him. So we watched the short show. It was nice to share the moment with him.
Long gone are the days that he would climb into my lap to cuddle and watch Toy Story 2. Now Colton has his own daily activities separate from mine. He enjoys a full, busy schedule that keeps him gone from the house most days. I’m very thankful that Colton wants to spend time with me, even if it’s short, because for me those are very precious moments.
God blessed my life extra when He gave me Colton. He makes my world brighter. His love, energy, humor, and silliness fill my life with so much joy. He impresses me with his love for others. With his sincerity and tender-heart, Colton makes a friend wherever he goes. I know God has amazing plans for this young man, I have the privilege to call son. He’s a true gift from God and I’m so humbled that God let me be his mom. So today, I want to give thanks for my son.
