Lately, my thoughts have been on having the right heart. I know that in order for my heart to be right I must have my focus on God and His will for my life. While I may not fully understand the role the heart has in my life, I do understand the heart leads. It’s quite common to hear the word’s “follow the heart”. This is definitely a teaching of the world, but this is not what scriptures teach at all.

Even though the heart can be a guide for us we need to be sure and have our heart turned to God to ensure our heart can lead us down the right path. We can read that Jesus teaches that the heart can lead us to destruction.
“Do you not yet understand that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and is eliminated? But those things which proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and they defile a man. For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies. These are the things which defile a man, but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile a man.” Matthew 15:17-20
The scriptures emphasize the importance of focusing the heart on God’s word “Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You!” Psalms 119:11
As I go through this week, I plan to dedicate my bible study on the heart. I hope to post verses and thoughts daily. Join me as I study about the importance of focusing your heart instead of following your heart.
Until next time lots of love to you and yours
